Ransomware Wreaking Havoc – WannaCry

What about it: On Friday May 12th, 2017, a ransomware called WannaCry started infecting and spreading to machines. The worldwide ransomware cyber attack wreaked havoc in hospitals, schools and offices across the globe over the weekend. Asia reported thousands of new cases but no large-scale breakdowns. This ransomware supports 28 different languages, encrypts 179 different type of files and requires victims to wire money ($300-$600) via bitcoins to get the control back of their machines. The full extent of the damage from the cyber attack, felt in 150 countries, was unclear and could worsen if more malicious variations of the…

Intel Edison 560

I’m sure we all know that information technology is becoming smaller and smaller, we went from computers that took up whole rooms with kilobytes of storage space to computers the size of a wallet that have hundreds of gigabytes of storage space, that’s one hundred million times more space. Listen to this, Intel announced about 2 years ago that they plan on producing a computer the size of an SD card. You know, those super thin, no bigger than a square inch, cards we stick in our digital cameras. Yeah, those. At the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas…

EVGA SC17 Gaming Laptop

EVGA, known for their graphics cards and motherboards, recently released its first ever gaming laptop, the SC17. Typically when a company rolls out its ‘first’ of something specs, build quality, and other features tend to fall a bit short. But EVGA has the potential to be different. Although in the past EVGA have and continues to place stickers and fancy colorful boxes to third party designs, like the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming GPU, they do however have an excellent motherboard, electrical, and software design team with extremely high street creds making them more applicable than Razor. EVGA designed…

Nvidia GTX 1080

Over the weekend Nvidia announced its new line-up of GPU’s in Austin, TX. Greatly exceeding our wildest expectations, these new cards crush previous performance records with ease. The GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 were both announced last night, but it’s the 1080 that will cause bloodshed. As Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang’s put it, “The GeForce GTX 1080 is almost irresponsible amounts of performance.” The New Nvidia GPU is more powerful than two GTX 980’s running in SLI. Running with less power consumption, and more efficiency, it still outperforms the beastly Titan X, a $1000 USD GPU. Crazier still, the cheaper…

Selfie on Point

Before I bought my first DSLR Camera earlier this year I was taking all my pictures with my phone camera, at the time it was an iPhone 5c. Being an amateur photographer by hobby I can’t tell you how often I wished Apple would invest in higher quality sensors for their cameras, if nothing less than to take selfies with anything better than a potato. Thanks Apple. Let’s welcome the DxO ONE to this theoretical stage, a small form factor high definition camera. This thing is barely bigger than the area of a saltine and only about 1 inch thick….

Apple Hosts 2016 WWDC

About a month ago Apple hosted its annual WWDC for 2016, announcing some updates to some of our beloved Apple Devices. A major topic of WWDC was the mobile operating system (OS) known as iOS, and the Computer OS known as OSX. Siri has been a part of the iPhone for about 5 years now and Apple will finally update this potentially powerful feature, as Siri seemed to be falling behind of the other major artificial intelligent (AI) personal assistants. Apple has created a Siri Software Development Kit (SDK), which means that developers will now be able to incorporate Siri…

Windows 10 Anniversary

It’s almost been a full year after Windows 10 has been released and Microsoft is looking to make some pretty big changes to the UI that Microsoft, forcefully, made us upgrade to with the constant pop-ups telling us to ‘upgrade now!’ While Microsoft hasn’t officially announced a release date of the aforementioned update it’s safe to assume it’ll be released July 29th, 2016, which is the one-year anniversary of Windows 10’s release. The biggest update will come to Cortana. Microsoft continues to expand what Cortana can do, clearly trying to make it the most powerful assistant in an increasingly growing…
